My granddaughters have been learning about their heritage in school. One day my youngest granddaughter took home a paper doll, and her homework was to dress it in clothing that depicted her heritage. Two older granddaughters had to prepare a family tree with pictures of their ancestors.

Impacting a Child’s Life
This past summer, I had the opportunity to meet Les and Rita Peters, Canadians who began a ministry in Guatemala several years ago. They have been long-time friends of my sister and her family, who have been active in supporting their work from the beginning stages.
I also took the time to read a recent book Rita has written to tell how God has blessed them in very practical ways as they made the journey to Guatemala and have set up different aspects of their work.

A few weeks ago, my daughter broke her foot and needed an air cast boot. Since I still had mine from a few years ago, I put it in my trunk to take to her. However, she needed something a little different, so my boot remained in my car.

In the fall I became project manager for the publication of a book on the history of missions with the denomination for which I work. It’s been interesting reading stories of how God called ordinary men and women to serve him internationally, and to learn what that particular calling meant to them.
